The history and growth of Neno Evangelism Ministry would be incomplete without tracing it to the life story of Apostle J.M Nganga. It is also note worthy to state a major concern of the ministry as that of "...proclaiming liberty to the captives and opening of the prison to those who are bound.. "(Isaiah 61:1) while still accomplishing the great commission "Go therefore and make disciples of all the nations, baptizing them in the name of the Father and of the son and of the Holy spirit.." Mat 28:19. As already noted, Apostle J.M Nganga was saved in 1989 while serving a jail term at the Shimo La Tewa prison, Mombasa. Upon his release in 1992, he began to share the gospel with individuals while at the doing mkokoteni (hand cart) business. He became an itinerant evangelist and he attracted crowds. The very first meetings he had were at the Mombasa Railways Grounds. He preached under a tree and a handfull of people would gather over lunch hour to hear him. He had no public address system. He had the zeal to preach but life was hard. For three years, he preached in the open air with no specific place to call a sanctuary or house of God. In 1995, he had a breakthrough when God visited him and led him to abandon his business and attend to ministry work. That same year, he moved to a hall (Chandaria hall) and one year later 1996, he was ordained a pastor by Bishop D. Mwaura of Jomvu Pentecostal Church. The congregation continued to grow and there arose an urgent need to start a church. Neno Evangelism Centre was born at this time. About 8 years since then, what God has done is beyond description. The church has over 30 branches countrywide and it is among the fastest growing Churches in Kenya. The congregation in Mombasa is over 6,000 people and it continues to grow. The ministry has gone to the airwaves with two TV station : one covering the entire nation. There is a radio broadcast covering the whole nation also. The Nakuru branch is growing at a tremendous rate. It has its own TV and radio broadcasts. Then there is the phenomenal growth of the Nairobi branch. Apostle J.M Nganga initially having meetings in a basement hall in the outskirts of the Central Business District. In less than one year the church moved to its current location at the junction of Uhuru highway and Haile selaise. The current location now seems to be small and we are in process of buying the adjacent plot to accommodate the growing congregation. Please support us. The Nairobi branch is now 11 thousand seater and it is still growing for new people come in day after day. In this Deliverance Ministry God has raised many servants to serve under this Ministry Besides the growing church there is also a School of Impartation called the Neno School of Impartation which trains Pastors from different parts of the country on preaching and spreading the word of God , over 400 Pastors have graduated from the School and the intake is yearly enrol now . . |
